The VERITAS Community School Board of Directors normally meets on
the third Wednesday of every month at 6:00PM.

Interested in becoming a VERITAS Board Member? We are looking for new board members with experience in:

  • Fundraising/Grant Writing
  • Facilities Management and Real Estate

Board Members

Erika Bowen, Chair Person

Erika Bowen, a Charlotte native, is currently a High School Administrator at Community School of Davidson. She has a degree in English Education from Appalachian State University and a Masters of Educational Leadership from Queens University. While in the classroom, Erika earned her National Board Certification in the area of Secondary English and worked for several years as a teacher consultant with the National Writing Project. She is passionate about serving students in her community and believes that every student deserves access to high quality public education.

Ed Ritter, Vice-Chairperson

Ed Ritter is a retired banking executive who held senior leadership positions in the Consumer Bank, Commercial Bank and within Technology and Operations at Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Ed brings his leadership skills to bear on driving the board’s strategic plan and spearheading the long term planning for the school facility.

Lindsay Betzel, Secretary

Lindsay Betzel, a Charlotte area native, is a Finance Program Manager at Florida Power & Light. She has a background in project management and software development that she uses to keep the board organized. Lindsay takes the lead on reviewing and updating all board policies, onboarding new board members and providing ongoing board training.

Gretchen B. Bottrill, Treasurer

Gretchen B. Bottrill is a Managing Director and Senior Credit Officer at Regions Bank. Her years of experience in risk management and financial analysis have been instrumental in streamlining Veritas’ budget and cash flow management.

Dottie Bryan, Director

Dottie is the owner of DB Consulting. She is the board representative of Challenge Foundation Properties, the nonprofit financial partner that has been key to launching and sustaining Veritas.

Jaime Daniell, Director

Jaime Daniell is CEO of Performance Staffing Solutions, Inc. As chair of the marketing committee, she has revamped the school’s website and found new ways to promote Veritas in the community.

Mimi Siadak, Director

Mimi taught elementary school in the Raleigh-Durham area and middle school in Davidson, NC. Mimi uses her masters degree as a Curriculum Specialist to spearhead our READ Charlotte initiative and provide guidance to the board on academic matters.

L. Bernard Jones Jr., Director

L. Bernard Jones Jr. is a Senior Manager in the Cyber, Risk and Regulatory practice at PwC and has over 15 years of leadership experience within technology at PwC, Bank of America and Raytheon. Bernard is a proud graduate of a HBCU, holds two Graduate degrees and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Computer Science. As a new member to the board he hopes to provide a different perspective to the board to continue to assist with the growth of Veritas.

Chigozie Ogwuegbu-Stephens, Director

Chigozie Ogwuegbu-Stephens is a Senior Operational Risk at Wells Fargo and has over 15 years of leadership experience in operations and information technology oversight at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and the United States Army (US Army). Chigozie looks forward to actively helping the board advance its stated objectives.

Tejiri Bolano, Director

Tejiri Bolano is a Senior Operational Risk Officer at Wells Fargo and has over 15 years of leadership experience in engineering and information technology oversight at Areva, Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
